Finance department advice overlooked

[Details] The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in the state has ignored the "serious reservations" expressed by the state finance department over Maharashtra State Electricity Board picking up a 30% stake in the Dabhol Power Company. The government should not have subscribed to the equity, which will involve an outgo of between Rs 470 crore and Rs 730 crore.

New norms for selection of petro-product dealers

[Details] The petroleum and natural gas ministry has formulated new policy guidelines for selection of dealers/distributorships for petro-products effective April this year. The new guidelines have been introduced as the old policy led to several grievances on irregularities and malpractices.
