Sensex slips 33 points on lacklustre trade
The BSE-30 Index slipped by 33.29 points or 0.89 per cent on Wednesday amidst thin volumes and lacklustre trade to close at 3,735.01 against Tuesday's close of 3,768.30. The NSE-50 index closed at 1,042, down by 8.85 points, against Tuesday's close of 1,050.85.

Bangalore bourse brokers clear securities validation plan
Brokers of the Bangalore Stock Exchange (BgSE) have informally given the go-ahead for the proposed securities validation and guarantee programme (SVGP). At a presentation on Tuesday by the Pune-based SignAssure Services (India), a joint venture between Deepak Nitrite and Kenmark Marketing of the US, brokers said the Medallion programme would go a long way in eliminating the complicated signature verification process.

Mark to Markets -- Cheers for Cipla
Marketmen now feel that there could be an end to the controversy over the return of underwriters' funds that were claimed by Cipla at the time of the rights issue a couple of years ago. Many brokers now feel that it will be foolish on the part of the underwriters to opt for a return of their funds.
