Sensex slips 33 points on lacklustre trade

[Details] The BSE-30 Index slipped by 33.29 points or 0.89 per cent on Wednesday amidst thin volumes and lacklustre trade to close at 3,735.01 against Tuesday's close of 3,768.30. The NSE-50 index closed at 1,042, down by 8.85 points, against Tuesday's close of 1,050.85.

Bangalore bourse brokers clear securities validation plan

[Details] Brokers of the Bangalore Stock Exchange (BgSE) have informally given the go-ahead for the proposed securities validation and guarantee programme (SVGP). At a presentation on Tuesday by the Pune-based SignAssure Services (India), a joint venture between Deepak Nitrite and Kenmark Marketing of the US, brokers said the Medallion programme would go a long way in eliminating the complicated signature verification process.

[Details] Marketmen now feel that there could be an end to the controversy over the return of underwriters' funds that were claimed by Cipla at the time of the rights issue a couple of years ago. Many brokers now feel that it will be foolish on the part of the underwriters to opt for a return of their funds.
