80 Andhra units short-listed for technology transfer

HYDERABAD, May 22: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial & Technical Consultancy Organisation Ltd (Apitco), has short listed 80 small scale units in the state for carrying out technology transfers to Indonesia and Malaysia.

These companies are active in areas such as computer software, leather, sericulture, auto components, textile machinery spares, rubberised coir mattresses, coir fiber processing, activate carbon.

According to the Apitco managing director S Srinivasa Rao, the organisation is helping the entreprenuers to negotiate with their Malaysian and Indonesian counterparts and match their requirements on one-to-one basis.

The meetings are expected to start in India from July onwards, he said.

At the same time Apitco has also identified an opportunity to import technology for soya, palm oil, herbal medicines, wooden and cane furniture from the two countries, Rao addressing the organisation's annual meeting said. The Apitco board has recommend a 15 per cent dividend for the year 1996-97, while it has earned a consultancy revenue of Rs 1.60 crore and posted a net profit of Rs 27 lakhs.

During the year the consultancy agency has completed a total of 121 assignments successfully, he said.

Escort services, the latest addition to range of services provided by Apitco, is now extended to the beneficiaries of `integrated rural development programme' in the districts of Anantapur, Karimnagar, Prakasam, East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh to promote micro enterprises, Rao said.While replying to a query Rao said that though about 35 per cent of the claintale from private sector companies the major business come from government sector.

He further said that the agency is slowly increasing its presence in areas of preparation of project feasibility reports and project profiles appraising industrial investment proposals.
