State government set to revive defunct law commission
The Maharashtra government will reconstitute a state law commission shortly for "examination, simplification and unification" of the existing laws. A resolution to this effect was passed about a month ago. The government also plans to earmark quarrying zones all over the state to prevent environment degradation.

No takers for Tinplate Company's private debt placement
Tinplate Company of India's private debt placement has come a cropper. The placement is intended to partly fund the cost increase in the cold-rolling (CR) mill project from Rs 225 crore to Rs 294.14 crore. The instrument, carrying a coupon rate of 22% plus, gives an annualised yield of about 20.5%.
