ICICI Bank's maiden public offer is opening for subscription on August 5, 1997. Priced at Rs 35 (Rs 10 face value and a premium of Rs 25), this is the second issue from an FI-controlled bank after the HDFC Bank issue in 1994.

Asian markets take HK handover in their stride
Asian financial markets took the handover of Hong Kong to China in their stride as companies with business in the territory rallied on the Singapore bourse. Across the Asia-Pacific region, analysts said they saw few risks from the handover of sovereignty.

Former Oriental Bank official involved in fraud
