UK shoemaker takes off offending labels
Britain's leading shoemakers Clarks have taken off from store display two brands of ladies boots named after Hindu gods following strong protests from the country's one million-strong Hindu community. The two brands of ladies long boots "have been taken off the shelf as well as display," said John Keery, spokesman for the Clarks.

Intel says inventory woes almost over
Intel Corp stock rose 5% yesterday after the world's biggest computer chip maker said Asia's economic woes and falling personal computer prices have left its business relatively unscathed. At a semi-annual analyst meeting, Intel executives also said an industry-wide move by PC manufacturers to slash their component inventory is almost over, suggesting that Intel's sales could pick up in coming months.
