TRAI seeks to rationalise tariff to lower billing costs

[Details] The long-distance telephone caller will be paying less sooner or later, if the views of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on rationalisation of telecom tariff are any indication. The concept of pricing of domestic and international calls is likely to undergo major changes on account of the induction of latest technology which uses volume of traffic as the yardstick for such pricing.

Gujarat to seek allocation of funds review under VDIS

[Details] The Gujarat government, along with Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, plan to approach the Union finance ministry for reconsidering and reviewing the allocation of funds to states under VDIS as prescribed by the 10th Finance Commission. The Gujarat government feels that states should get 77.5% of the total amount collected from each state.
