Titles don't matter, job content does

[Details] Fancy title tags are out, job content is in. The West started the trend, MNCs picked it up and brought it along. HRD offers avenues for trained personnel

[Details] In today's corporate culture, it is realised that employees are an organisation's most valuable asset, making personnel or human resource management one of the key functional areas in management. In earlier years, personnel management was regarded as a kind of policing activity that controlled labour and handled problems concerning staff discipline. But current management philosophies have identified this aspect of management as a vital administrative function in both commercial as well as non-profit making establishments.

Education needs to be redesigned

[Details] Education in India is out of sync with the changing times, and deservedly needs a re-look. "Education India: The New Millennium", a world conference being organised in New Delhi during 12-14 November, will look into the areas where "interventions" are required in order to correct the imbalances in the education system. The Conference will review education across all sectors in India with focus on prioritised groups such as girls, women, SCs and STs, and the disabled.
