[Details] Economists have cautioned India to keep a close watch over inflation and balance of payments to avoid the type of beating taken by South-east Asian nations this year. The economists are of the view that though there are no signs of any looming crisis, in the light of the South-east Asian experience, there is a need to be vigilant about changes in the inflation trends and the balance of payments.

Helmet manufacturers have a nice time but they haven't struck a gold mine

[Details] November 1 was the day helmet manufacturers, small as well as big, were eagerly waiting for. With the helmet becoming mandatory for pillion-riders on two-wheelers as per the high court orders, the manufacturers were expecting a windfall. Some even started manufacturing in advance. The sales indeed shot up, but for most of the helmet makers, it has not matched their expectations.

[Details] The Madhya Pradesh Financial Corporation (MPFC) is facing a situation where entrepreneurs complain about the working of the corporation despite the renewed efforts by its managing director Sudarshan Synghal for betterment. In the last five years, the way in which MPFC has taken over hundreds of units, it has now become a process of recovery. However during these years, the corporation has forgotten its responsibility of industrial development.
