Dubai air show to take off today

[Details] More than 70 aircraft of all types will be on view at the fifth Dubai air show opening in Dubai on November 16, with some 500 exhibitors looking for a share of the lucrative Middle East market. Aircraft being shown in Dubai for the first time include Sukhoi's thrust-vectoring SU-37, Airbus Industrie's new A330-200, Boeing's 777-300 and Antonov 74TK convertible transporter.

Gates assails critics for "witch-hunt atmosphere"

[Details] Microsoft Corp chairman Bill Gates has lashed out at his critics, accusing them of creating a "witch-hunt atmosphere" and unfairly tarring the computer software giant. At the company's annual shareholders meeting, Gates blamed a recent increase in "anti-Microsoft activities" on an unprecedented, coordinated effort by its biggest industry rivals.

Chennai cable operators to merge control room network

[Details] In a move to ward off takeover threats, cable operators in the Chennai have come together to form a company to set up a common control room. The common control room will be the single point of receiving satellite signals which would be transmitted to all areas in the city. The move proposed by multi-system operators (MSOs) would convenience both the cable operators and the subscribers.
