Tata Electric Companies net up a tad to Rs 178 crore

[Details] The Tata Electric Companies (TEC) has registered a marginal increase of 1.7 per cent in net profit at Rs 177.94 crore for the six months ended September 30, 1997, compared to Rs 174.98 crore during the same period last year. TEC's turnover has gone up by four per cent to Rs 1,228.22 crore from Rs 1,181.48 crore last year. However, the gross profit of the company was down by three per cent to Rs 345.95 crore from 357.21 per cent.

Blue Dart plans to acquire third aircraft

[Details] Blue Dart Express plans to induct a third aircraft into its fleet by mid-1998 and has initiated discussions with several companies for a possible lease or downright purchase of the aircraft. The company was planning to buy the third aircraft from Indian Airlines, the supplier of the first two. However, if the government does not agree to this, Blue Dart will procure the aircraft from the international market.
