Flatted factories: Authorities propose, entrepreneurs dispose

[Details] The concept of flatted factories is being promoted by the Delhi government as a thrust area. The Department of Industries, Delhi, has planned the setting up of 5,765 such units in the Capital. But, unfortunately, not many entrepreneurs seem to be attracted by the concept of flatted factories. At least, the response of the industries to be relocated indicates that -- only 637 of the 52,000 such units have opted for flatted factories.

[Details] For Dinesh Sadija, having an advertising agency of his own was a dream. Sadija knew that he was an entrepreneur by instinct, but wanted some exposure in the business before starting an agency of his own. After a one-year stint with Sita Travels in the advertising section, Sadija quit to open his own ad agency, Universal Graphics in 1992. (In 1997, Sadija renamed his company Bridgegap Advertising).

[Details] Can you think of an industry, with a Rs 5,000-crore market and an estimated 60 per cent annual growth, which is slowly dying? The home appliances industry is facing this unusual crisis. The entry of multinationals with their latest technologies and massive advertisement budgets and extreme paucity of both with the indigenous manufacturers is taking the domestic entrepreneurs towards extinction.
