Sensex slips on house dissolution

[Details] Equities reacted negatively to the news of the dissolution of the Lok Sabha on Thursday, with the 30-share BSE Sensitive Index losing 35.27 points to end the day at 3,527.10 points. The NSE-50 index also fell by 18.95 points to close at 1,011.75 on liquidation of positions by operators. Reflecting the market sentiment, the Skindia GDR Index also slumped by 3.04% to close at 863.09 points.

Local brokers outshine foreign counterparts on BSE

[Details] Local brokerage houses appear to have upset the applecart of their foreign counterparts if the turnover figures of these entities are any indication. Domestic brokers like SSKI Securities and Enam Securities have moved to the top rung of the ladder in terms of the business carried out by them on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), leaving behind leading foreign brokerage firms like ING Barings Securities, Credit Lyonnais, WI Carr, Peregrine Securities, Jardine Fleming and Morgan Stanley.

Crisil assigns A(SO) rating to Bangalore Corporation issue

[Details] Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd (Crisil) has assigned single-A structured obligation -- A(so) -- to the Rs 100-crore bond issue from Bangalore City Corporation. The bond issue is made to fund the city corporation's arterial road projects. Bangalore is the third municipalty after Ahmedabad and Pune to come out with rated bonds for financing of civic utilities.
