RBI seeks ways to speed up core funding

[Details] The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is exploring the idea of reviewing banks' prudential norms and developing new financing instruments in order to boost infrastructure financing. RBI governor Bimal Jalan yesterday met chiefs of financial institutions, major banks and Infrastructure Development & Finance Corporation (IDFC) to find ways to speed up core sector funding.

Mumbai metro development body puts new projects on backburner

[Details] The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has put all its new projects on hold till the political uncertainty passes and the real estate market recovers. Meanwhile, MMRDA is yet to announce its decision on the two projects it had invited tenders for early this year.

Kesri to kick off poll campaign soon

[Details] Congress party spokesman Vithal Gadgil announced yesterday that its president Sitaram Kesri will address nationwide rallies. Kesri had earlier stated the forthcoming elections will be fought under his leadership. Gadgil added that the party chief will tour all parts of India.
