Astra becomes dearer as import costs shoot up

[Details] The fall of the rupee against the dollar and the consequent increase in the cost of imports has forced General Motors India Ltd of to hike the price Opel Astra by Rs 11,500. The ex-factory price of the Opel Astra -- GMI's lone model in the country -- has increased to Rs 6.85 lakh from Rs 6.74 lakh.

Low industrial power demand clogs up Eastern Coalfields' Rajmahal project

[Details] Eastern Coalfields Ltd has decided to wait for National Thermal Power Corp (NTPC) to increase coal offtake before going ahead with the Rajmahal C opencast project. NTPC is yet to agree to the price for coal from the Rs 560.32-crore third phase.

Kudremukh Iron, US firm sign power pact

[Details] The Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd has signed a power purchase agreement with Globetrotters Engineering Corporation of the USA to set up a 60 MW captive power plant within the company's premises at Kudremukh in Karnataka. The plant would take care of about 75 per cent of the company's power requirements at Kudremukh.
