Videsh Sanchar Nigam set to rake in Rs 80 cr as rupee depreciates

Videsh Sanchar Nigam is all set to rake in an extra Rs 80 crore during 1997-98 as a direct fallout of the recent depreciation of the rupee against the dollar. The sharp fall of the rupee will help the company improve its bottomline significantly as it is a net foreign exchange earner.

Allahabad Bank H1 operating profit up to Rs 90.43 crore

Allahabad Bank has reported an operating profit of Rs 90.43 crore for the first six months of the current fiscal as agaisnt Rs 70.78 crore in the corresponding period last year. Total income during the first half of this fiscal was Rs 774.23 crore as against Rs 684.29 crore in the first six months of the previous fiscal.

Essae Teraoka to set up business hotel in Bangalore

As part of its diversification plans, the Rs 30 crore Essae Teraoka Ltd is setting up a 100 room business hotel in Bangalore. The company will chip in around Rs 30 crore for which it will go in for a public issue next year. Essae Teraoka is likely to appoint Behram Wadia group, a Mumbai-based consultant to conduct feasibility study for the project.
