  TRAI stays MTNL entry into cellular services
The Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd's (MTNL) ambitious foray into cellular services has been stalled by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). TRAI has issued notices to the Department of Telecom (DoT) and MTNL, directing them to maintain the status quo.
  DoT to clear frequency band for entry of DECT technology
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has decided to clear the 1880-1900 mhz frequency band, which has so far been the exclusive preserve of the defence services. The move is expected to give a big boost to the entry of DECT wireless technology, which has so far been stunted due to the frequency spectrum problem.

Delhi, Ludhiana SEs set to merge
The country's stock exchanges are poised to witness a revolution following the Ludhiana Stock Exchange's proposed merger with the Delhi Stock Exchange. This is the first merger move in the history of Indian stock exchanges. The DSE is also exploring the possibility of bringing within its fold the Jaipur and Kanpur exchanges.
Infosys net gallops 105% to Rs 18 cr; okay for ADR issue
The new year has brought good news for software major, Infosys Technologies Ltd. The company has posted a 105% jump in its net profit to Rs 18.24 crore for the third quarter of the current fiscal. The company has also secured approval from its shareholders for its proposed American Depository Receipts (ADR) issue.

BSE in talks with private, foreign banks to speed up fund transfer
The Bombay Stock Exchange has initiated a dialogue with private banks like HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, IndusInd and TimesBank to help speed up inter-city money transactions. The move, necessitated by the expansion of the BOLT network to 140 cities, will help brokers as the banks can offer inter-city services like transfer of funds, etc.
Chrysler Corp rolls out luxury cars
The US-based auto giant Chrysler Corp has once again set its sights on the the luxury car market, with the launch of two new cars based on its LH plaftorm. Production of the new cars -- the Chrysler LHS and 300M -- is scheduled to begin this spring at Chrysler's Bramalea, Ontario, assembly plant.
