  SmithKline, American Home Products deal could create a domestic giant
Smithkline Beecham's has reportedly entered into global merger-talks with American Home Products (AHP), to form the third largest pharma company in India (in terms of market share) with minimal product overlap. The new venture would boast a domestic market share of over four per cent.
  BPL Mobile to put in place data warehousing solutions
BPL Mobile, one of the two cellular operators in Mumbai, is in the process of implementing a data warehousing solution, which will allow the company to analyse the data it regularly collects and take key decisions. The initial cost of the solution is expected to be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust to suspend operations at buffer yard
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has decided to suspend operations at its 40,000-square foot buffer yard from February 1. The move follows a stay order issued on January 15 by the Tariff Authority for Major Ports (TAMP) for running the yard without seeking permission from the authority.
KLM Northwest joins air-fare war with 50 per cent cut
KLM Northwest is the latest to join the bandwagon of carriers bound for US and Europe. In this regard, it has has announced a whopping 50 percent fare cut yesterday, after British Airways and Air India announced discounts ranging between 40 and 45 per cent.

Fusion Software sets up development centre
Fusion Software Engineering Pvt Ltd has set up its software development centre at the Electronics City near Bangalore. The new centre will accommodate more than 165 software professionals, who will be recruited over a span of two years to develop turnkey projects for the offshore market.

Vins Overseas unveils Mercedes drive-in service
Vins overseas India, (VOI) the 100% subsidiary of International Travel House and sole licensee of Europcar Interrent in India has launched the Mercedes limousine service -- Mercedes Drive in Mumbai. The new centre will accommodate more than 165 software professionals, who will be recruited over a span of two years to develop turnkey projects for the offshore market.
