  Cable television steals march over print media
Cable and satellite television has completely overshadowed print media according to National Readership Survey (NRS) 1997 -- conducted in 520 towns and metros sampling 131,568 individuals ranging between 15 and 82 years of age. NRS 1997 estimates that India's cable & satellite TV population has witnessed a stupendous growth of more than 50 per cent.
  BJP not to appoint PR agency for campaign
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided against appointing any agencies as campaign managers for the elections. This puts to rest speculation that the BJP's election campaign will be handled by a leading public relations agency. Party has decided to denote the task to its election committee and the party workers.

Oprah Winfrey show on mad cow leaves a bad taste in the mouth of Texas rangers
The madcow trial pitting US talk show star Oprah Winfrey against Texas ranchers has put the spotlight on America's `food disparagement' or `veggie libel' laws. Jury selection in the high-profile trial began on Tuesday in the North Texas town of Amarillo, following a $12 million-lawsuit by local cattlemen against Winfrey.
Short skirts, main attraction at Auto Expo
The entire city of Delhi seems to be headed for Auto Expo-98. Or so it would seem on seeing chaos prevalent at the exhibition. However, the show seems to be turning into a "girlie" expo, rather than a show meant to display automobiles, thanks to the policy followed by most of the companies to spruce up their stalls with female models in skimpy clothes as a means of luring customers to their stalls.

Hit by ban on British beef, farmers seek compensation
Scuffles broke out outside British Prime Minister Tony Blair's official London office on Tuesday, as farmers tried to set loose a cow in Downing Street. Thousands of farmers had descended on London to demand extra Government support for their industry, which has been labouring under the worldwide ban on British beef imposed by the European Union (EU).

The field of cloning may have made remarkable progress since the first clone, Dolly the sheep, was made a year ago. But the latest innovation in the field takes the cake. Scientists in Boston announced on Tuesday that they had successfully created two identical, genetically engineered calves which can produce medicines for humans in their milk.
