MUMBAI, Feb 5: Chief commissioner of income tax (CCIT)-1 V M Muthuramalingam has been replaced by B Misra as part of a series of transfers effected by the department of revenue across the country. Misra was CCIT-II in the city.Muthuramalingam moves to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) as member, personnel and vigilance. The transfer orders, which are on ad-hoc basis, have been issued by SS Sharma, director to the government of India. Asha Mehra, CCIT- Pune, has been appointed as the member, investigation in the CBDT.
KVM Pai, CCIT-II, Chennai has been transferred as CCIT-II, Mumbai. He was earlier in the city and has also served as CIT in charge of securities scam cases.
While CV Padmanabhan, has been promoted as CCIT-III, JM Mehra will take over as CCIT-Pune. Mehra, who was CCIT-Ahmedabad, is being replaced by SNL Agarwala who currently is occupying the position of director general of income tax (investigation), Bangalore. The DGIT position in the Garden City has been taken by KK Sharma.
SBapu, DGIT (investigation) in Chennai will become CCIT of the city as the current CCIT in Chennai, A Balasubramanian has been appointed as member, CBDT.
Kanwarjit Singh has been promoted as CCIT-Jaipur. The slot fell vacant after RR Bajoria got transferred to CCIT-kanpur. TK Das, who has been serving as CCIT of Kanpur, will become DGIT (exemptions) at Calcutta. He succeeds SC Saxena who will take over as DGIT (administration), Delhi.
MM Joshi has been promoted as CCIT-II, Chennai while N Shanmughavelu, CCIT-III, Mumbai will take over as DGIT (investigation), Chennai.
