MUMBAI, Feb 5: Hoechst Schering AgrEvo has declared a maiden interim dividend of Rs 3.50 per share payable to all shareholders whose names appear in the register as on March 24, 1998.The board has, at its meeting held on February 3, also redesignated current managing director KK Unni as executive vice-chairman and managing director.
The meeting was chaired by Vijay Mallya. It was also attended by the Hoechst Schering AgrEvo GmbH's chairman and CEO G Prante, the German multinational's board member HJ Timner and regional director Asia Pacific region and director Hoechst Schering AgrEvo, KP Schlichting.
According to the company, despite difficult market conditions for the agrochemical industry in India, turnover for the April-December 1997 period in the crop protection and environmental health segments were "as per plans".The company has successfully launched a herbicide Puma Super, in the major wheat markets of Punjab.
Biological product brands, Ecofit and Unim were also well accepted by farmers andare being extensively used in crops like cotton, vegetables, tea, rubber, chillies, bengalgram and soyabean.
