US charges 14 with Internet gambling
In the first federal case of its kind, the US attorney's office in Manhattan on Wednesday charged 14 people with running illegal sports gambling operations over the Internet. In separate complaints, the US attorney's office charged the 14 defendants with using Internet Web sites and phone lines to place bets on US professional and college football, basketball, hockey and baseball games.
