  Bank of Baroda to go its own way on wage deal; unions may oppose move
Bank of Baroda (BoB) has decided to break away from the industrywide wage pact. It has decided against giving its mandate to the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) to negotiate with trade unions for the sixth bipartite wage pact. The last wage agreement expired last November.
  Baroda Rayon plan sputters as Reliance refuses strategic tieup
Reliance Industries has decided not to go ahead with an earlier plan for a conversion contract to bail out beleaguered Baroda Rayon Corporation. The plan was reportedly announced by Baroda Rayon chairman and managing director SP Gaekwad at the company's last annual general meeting to shareholders.

ANZ Grindlays Bank decides to close down nine branches in four cities
ANZ Grindlays Bank has decided to close nine of its branches in four cities in India. The existing clients and businesses will be handed over to other bank branches in the same cities.
US 64 gains Rs 98 crore via accounting-policy changes
The Unit Trust of India (UTI) has made significant changes in its accounting policy in 1996-97 (July-June), which have had a different impact on the various schemes it manages. The US 64 scheme happens to be the single largest beneficiary with accretions of over Rs 98 crore to its reserves.

DCA to move CLB over Dunlop nominee
The Department of Company Affairs (DCA) will seek the Company Law Board's (CLB) approval for appointment of a government director on the board of tyremaker Dunlop India Ltd under Section 408 of the Companies Act. The DCA's move was cleared by the finance ministry on March 5 this year.
Hanumantha Rao committee to submit new fertiliser policy report this week
The much-awaited report of the Hanumantha Rao Committee, on the basis of which a new fertiliser policy is to be formulated, is to be presented to the ministry of chemicals and fertilisers this week. Sources close to the ministry said the report, which will tackle an alternative to retention pricing, will be presented to the ministry on Friday, April 3.
