  Centre's resort to WMA drops by Rs 3,445 crore
The Centre's resort to the ways and means advances (WMA) from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) dropped sharply by Rs 3,445 crore to Rs 1,788 crore during the week ended March 20. In the previous week, it rose by a paltry Rs 8 crore.
  GTR shortlists 5 consortiums to bid for Baroda-Halol highway project
Gujarat Toll Road (GTR) has shortlisted five consortiums to bid for the Baroda-Halol highway project, the first recourse road project in the country. The shortlisted consortiums are Larsen & Toubro, the Shaporji Pallonji consortium, Ircon & Punj Lloyd, Madhucon-Binapuri and Hindustan Construction along with Renang of Malaysia.

Economy needs to grow by 7% a year: Rangarajan
The Andhra Pradesh governor C Rangarajan has emphasised that the Indian economy needed to grow at a sustained rate of seven per cent per annum in order to absorb the growing addition to the labour market. According to Rangarajan, there are many countries around India which are growing fast and therefore India too must be part of that race as well.
Asian nations for reinforcing IMF role
Asian and European economic nations have agreed to reinforce the role of International Monetary Fund (IMF) to deal with the south-east Asian currency crisis while agreeing on the reforms agenda prepared by the fund. The fallen Asian economic giants, including South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia has clamoured for concrete European help and demanded that a summit status paper on European contribution be set out.

Ministry plans 10% hike in cargo movement via waterways
The ministry of surface transport (MOST) plans to develop infrastructure to increase the volume of cargo transported via inland waterways. According to the Union minister of state for surface transport, only 5% of the total cargo handled in the country is transported via waterways and MOST plans to increase it to 15% within the next five years.

Plans are afoot to review Prasar Bharati bill, promises Khurana
As promised in the national agenda for governance, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government has decided to review the present Prasar Bharati set-up and bring a fresh bill in the budget session of parliament.
