In his last article, K Seshadri, had pointed out that stock prices are likely to undergo a re-rating process, after the BJP comes to power. However, in his current article, he points out that re-rating is blooming now. But the onset of the re-rating process also triggers the need to examine the nature of the current stock price rise, and draw conclusions for future guidance.

Equity funds on road to recovery; restructured schemes emerge on top
After hounded by critics for almost two years on non-performance, growth funds have started showing signs of a turnaround. The 55 equity schemes have appreciated by an average of 9% during the year 1997-98. While 13 growth funds have outperformed the sensex, 15 funds have given a return in excess of 15% for 1997-98.

Listing offers the investors liquidity. More the listings, therefore, greater is the liquidity. It goes unsaid that in the investment check-list, liquidity is one of the most important points considered by the investors.

Punters turn to steel scrips on revival hopes
An expected revival in demand for steel has attracted speculators to the counters of most steel companies. The result: Tisco has gained 35% in six weeks while SAIL has shown a jump of 100% over the same period. Similarly, Essar Steel,Jindal Iron & Steel, Lloyds Steel and Mukand have also appreciated by 39%, 59%, 116% and 52%, respectively.
