  SWC creditor verdict upsets McKinsey plan

  BPL group, Voltas in talks to source refrigerators
The BPL group is in talks with Voltas for a strategic alliance to source refrigerators on an original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) basis. It is understood that the move will suit the group's earlier plans to shift its white-goods stock from Karnataka for curtailing operational cost owing to high sales-tax (4 per cent on consumer-electronic goods) in the state.

Stic in talks with global hotel chains to be agent for outbound tourists
The Delhi-based Stic group is in talks with international hotel chains like Holiday Hospitality, Hilton Hospitality, ParkRoyal, Ramada Hotels and Amara Hotels & Resorts to become their general sales agent (GSA) in India for outbound tourists. The move is part of the group's efforts to diversify into hotel bookings.

Madura Garments trebles adspend
Madura Garments, a division of Coats Viyella India, plans to corner a big chunk of the market for mid-price branded shirts by fanning out to towns with population exceeding more than five lakh. It has trebled its advertisement budget for 1998 to Rs 6 crore, vice-president (marketing) FA Naqvi said in Calcutta on Tuesday.

Cadbury sets 20% annual growth target for sales of chocolate confectionery
Cadbury India Ltd has targeted a sales growth of 20% per annum in the chocolate-confectionery segment for the next three years. In the period, it also aims to achieve a volumes growth of 12% per annum. According to managing director, Rajeev Bakshi, the targets are framed on a cautious approach.
