  Knoll Pharma may consider Beem Healthcare merger
Knoll Pharmaceuticals may examine the feasibility of merging its wholly-owned subsidiary Beem Healthcare with itself, following its decision to concentrate on the prescription drugs business. Beem Healthcare, which commenced operations on January 1, 1996, is the company's over-the-counter (OTC) products marketing subsidiary.
  Regulatory authority mooted for downstream petroleum sector
The Union ministry of petroleum and natural gas is considering a total revamp of the regulatory functions in the downstream sector which are presently under the purview of the Oil Coordination Committee (OCC). This follows a series of recommendations made by the Tata Energy Research Institute (Teri) to the ministry recently.

Bank of India adopts stringent risk weightage for capital adequacy
Taking a cue from the Narasimham Committee recommendations, Bank of India has decided to account for market-weighted risk in computing its capital adequacy ratio even before the panel's recommendations are endorsed by the finance ministry. It had kicked off the exercise even before the Narasimham panel was instituted by former finance minister P Chidambaram.

Indian Bank reshuffles its second rung
The Chennai-based Indian Bank has just effected a major re-shuffle in the second rung of management, inducting six new general managers (GMs) and shuffling portfolios among the others. Moreover, of its three zones two have been upgraded and will now have general managers at the top, while four departments: credit, priority, personnel and human resources and inspection, get new heads.
Centre will weigh pros and cons of fertiliser-panel report
The government will adopt a `cautious' approach on implementation of the recommendations of the high-powered Hanumantha Rao committee on the vexatious issue of fertiliser subsidy and pricing. Any decision on the report seeking a cut in subsidies along with radical changes in its pricing structure will be taken only after extensive interaction with various groups.
