Daewoo Motors posts Rs 32-crore loss
Daewoo Motors India's (DMIL) financial position would have been much more disastrous than the Rs 31.60 crore loss in the second half of the year had "other income" of Rs 35.14 crore not come to the aid of the ailing company. Daewoo first-half losses in 1997-98 were Rs 10.73 crore.
Maruti Udyog steps up Gypsy, Omni-E pricetag
Maruti Udyog has announced an increase in the prices of Omni and Gypsy King following the hike in excise duty. The price of the Omni has increased by Rs 6,600 and Gypsy King by Rs 12,400. The ex-factory price of Omni will now be Rs 1,71,600 (existing Rs 1.65 lakh) while the Gypsy's ex-factory price will be Rs 3,22,400 (existing Rs 3.1 lakh).
Bellary Steels to set up iron-ore mining complex
Bellary Steels & Alloys is setting up an iron-ore mining complex near Bellary in Karnataka. This is in line with a report submitted by MN Dastur & Co after conducting a feasibility study. The complex is estimated to cost the company around Rs 11 crore.
