Frankfurt, June 9: Volkswagen Ag's chief executive Ferdinand Piech plans a link-up with French car maker Renault SA, Germany's Stern magazine said in a pre-release of Wednesday's edition. A VW spokesman said the magazine report was ``pure speculation'' and declined to comment further.VW wants to add commercial vehicles to its current VW, Audi,Skoda and SEAT mass-market car range through a tie-up with Renault, Europe's third biggest commercial vehicles company, the magazine said without citing sources.
VW also wants to develop two further luxury car marques on top of last week's acquisition of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, the magazine said.
The company's plans in the luxury class, Stern said, include reviving the ``Horch'' brand owned by its Audi AG subsidiary.
``Horch'' limousines were the pre-World War Two were favoured by millionaires and film stars in Germany.
VW intends building Horch cars with 18-cylinder motors at a factory in Dresden, according to Stern. It also wants to buy Italian Sports carmaker Lamborghini and add it to its Audi subsidiary, Stern said.
