The wrong inflation
One optimistic theory being aired is that an increase in inflationary expectations is necessary to get the economy back on the growth path. The argument is probably that once people understand prices may be headed steeply upwards, they will rush out and start buying, resulting in an increase in aggregate demand. Votaries of this latest fad will find much comfort from the increase in the rate of inflation.

Privatisation and market structure
Privatisation of late has become the fashion and language of economic development. Support for economic privatisation has been seen as an engine for economic growth at present. Even a small country like Bhutan has viewed privatisation as an important economic straty for bringing about growth with equity. In its effort to encourage privatisation Bhutan has been engaged with economic liberalisation, contracting out public sector assets to private sector, sale of public sector shares to private sector and so on.

A shot in the arm
The vindication of ITC's stand against the Chitalias in a US court is a shot in the arm for the beleaguered company, which has been fighting allegations against it under the excise laws and under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act. Since the Chitalias were approvers in the Enforcement Directorate's case against the company management, it can now be argued that the favourable judgment in the US court throws some doubt over the weight of the evidence adduced by the Chitalias.
