Gold and silver prices moved in opposite direction on the bullion mark

Silver.999 recovered by Rs 20 at Rs 8,215 per kg. In the ready section silver.916 bounced back by Rs 60 at Rs 8,105 per kg in sympathy. Industrial and seasonal buyers turned active at the lower level while eased supplies pushed silver prices upward, dealers said. The white metal was down by Rs 140 per kg during last week. In the global market silver was subdued at $5.41/5.42 per ounce.

Standard gold finished Rs 5 lower at Rs 4,205 per kg. Gold.22 carat fell by same margin at Rs 3,890 per kg. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) however closed steady at Rs 49,300 per piece on stray seasonal support after a sharp setback of Rs 900 per piece recorded last week. In the global market gold was subdued at $286.65 per ounce.

Groundnut oil extended losses on the oil, oilseeds market here today. Castor seed and its oil on the other hand climbed up further on lack of offerings coupled with steady buying by shippers.

Groundnut oil closed Rs 5 lower at Rs 513 per 10 kg amidst demand resistance. Silver.999 recovered by Rs 20 at Rs 8,215 per kg. Groundnut oil closed Rs 5 lower at Rs 513 per 10 kg amidst demand resistance.Higher prices attracted profit-taking by stickiest. Fear of stringent action to curb price rise by government ahead of festivals also weakened the market sentiment considerably.

Imported palm oil edged down by Rs 2 at Rs 358 per 10 kg on fresh arrivals. In the global market prices fell by $5 at $675 per tonne for nearby delivery. Forward deliveries were quoted lower at $662.50/642.50 it was learnt. September delivery was quoted lower at Rs 353 per 10 kg.

Castor oil on the other hand moved up by Rs 3 at Rs 406/418 per 10 kg on continued buying by shippers on steady overseas enquiries. Castor seed shot up by Rs 15 at Rs 1,847/1,853 per quintal in sympathy.

In Gujarat region daily average arrivals of castor seed had dropped to 4000/5000 bags it was learnt.

In the futures section castor seed September delivery lifted from Rs 1683 to Rs 1702 per quintal on steady bull buying but volume was at a low ebb, floor sources said. Trading in the castor seed December delivery will be commenced from Thursday,according to floor sources.

In the Gujarat region castor seed ready rose by Rs 10 at Rs 365 per 20 kg. Castor oil lifted up by Rs 5 at Rs 395 per 10 kg. it was learnt.
