Institutions gain a "hedge" over others
The Pratip Kar Committee set up by SEBI has recommended that MFs should be allowed to invest through schemes either exclusively meant for overseas investments, or as a part of a scheme which includes domestic investment.
Kashmir & Pak
The massacre of innocents in Kashmir is evidence of several failures. At the obvious level, it seems as if the Indian state has failed to protect the life and limb of its citizens, thanks to the murderous proclivities of Pakistan-aided armed mercenaries. This is certainly true up to a point.
A pragmatic step
Treating bank loans to non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) for financing truck operators as part of priority-sector advances is a pragmatic step. The policy should help banks meet priority-sector targets, while NBFCs will now have a source of funding.
