Jain Commission serves one and all
Politicians will always remember him. Not so much for his yeoman service as a red revolutionary from Rajasthan in his early career for a brief spell, or as a legal luminary, as for his performance in this last decade of the century. Jain's name will be written in letters of gold for his prolonged pursuit of truth and falsehood.
Nestle meets market hopes
Nestle recently announced its results for the half-year ended July 5, 1998, and the second-quarter of 1998. Incidentally, before the company could announce the first-half results, Nestle's stock price had already recorded an impressive jump of Rs 100 within a period of one month. Interestingly, the results were undoubtedly impressive.
Cancer -- An industrial epidemic
The World Health Organisation (WHO) maintains and analyses cancer mortality data from 70 countries. WHO research shows that industrialised countries have far more cancers than countries with little industry. In the US today, in the age group of 35 to 64, cancer is the number one killer.
