FIPB puts off decision on Tata Airline yet again
The Tata Airline proposal continues to be jinxed, with the Foreign Investment Promotion Board postponing its meeting on Monday in the wake of the recent bureaucratic reshuffle. The proposal is likely to be taken up by the board at its next meeting on August 22.

Bharti BT-Benett, Coleman in talks to set up V-Sat hub
Bharti BT is in talks with Bennett Coleman & Company for the setting up of a private V-Sat hub. Bharti BT is the 50:50 satellite joint venture between British Telecom and the Sunil Mittal promoted Bharti Telecom.

Specifications for rails made more stringent
Indian Railways has recently amended the specification of rails in view of increased traffic density and the introduction of high-speed trains in many parts of the country. Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) of SAIL, which is the sole indigenous supplier of rails to the Indian Railways, has been given the new specification, IRS-12-96, by the Railways.

Sensex may shed another 100 points; wait for the storm to blow over
A fifty per cent dip in the exchange value of the rouble has hit the recovery process on the Indian bourses. The Sensex lost 52 points to close at 2917. The impact was felt not only on Indian markets but also on the Japanese markets, which is reported to have fallen by two per cent.The Sensex opened at 2983, some 14 points over the previous close. It also went up to a high of 3002. But the break out of the Russian news brought the index down to a low and close of 2917.
