Kerkar to head film city development plan
The Maharashtra government has decided to hand over the development of film city, situated in north Mumbai, to former Indian Hotels Company managing director Ajit Kekar. Kerkar has already been appointed as consultant to the government on the development of the entertainment industry in the state.
Garment export quota to go on-line
Indian garment exporters can now avail export quota directly through an on-line network to be established by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). Called the electronic transfer scheme (ETS), the on-line system will become functional from Tuesday and would be available at all AEPC regional offices across the country.
Murdoch moves to extend Sports TV empire
Rupert Murdoch's move to take-over English football club Manchester United is part of his grand plan to buy control of the television rights to the world's most popular Sports. Murdoch's News Corp Ltd will recover the high cost of buying Britain's most successful soccer team in recent years by broadcasting its games across its BSkyB, Fox and Star television systems globally.
