Bangalore, Sept 9: Vysya Bank opened its first specialised personal banking branch in Bangalore on Wednesday, marking its foray into the segment. The fully-automated branch will offer special schemes like Vysflexi and Vysunits, tele-banking and ATM facilities by the next month. According to the bank chairman and CEO KR Ramamoorthy, the bank is planning another personal banking branch in Hyderabad and later in other metros.
Vysya Bank is also the first bank to implement the network computer technology from Tata-IBM. Tata-IBM general manager systems Nipun Mehrotra said this technology offers the flexibility of a personal computer and the security of a terminal. The branch will operate seven days a week.
Vsysa Bank is planning to enlarge the scope of information technology in its branch operations, Ramamoorthy said. A dedicated communication network DAMA VSAT will shortly enable the bank to offer ``any branch banking'' facility as a cash management solution to corporates.
The bank has initiated measures to link the first phase of about 200 branches and offices clustered to each of the VSAT locations using the MS Exchange and MS Mail facilities for transmission of data to the central office and from the central office to the respective branches and offices. Parallel delivery channels such as ATMs and tele-banking centres are also at various stages of development.
