More items to come under futures trading
The commodity futures trading in the country is set to take a new turn with the growing demand for inclusion of more items in the list for trading. This will eventually substitute the element of subsidy for these commodities by way of minimum support prices for procurement or market intervention prices in case of likely distress sale of commodities.
Package soon to boost pulses, oilseeds output
The cabinet committee at the centre will come out with a package of incentives in a week's time to promote the farmers in cultivating more crops especially pulses and oilseeds where the country has to heavily depend on imports, disclosed minister of state for food and consumer affairs, Satyapal Singh Yadav.
UTI to play active role in chemical sector
The Unit Trust of India will launch special schemes to assist public sector companies in the chemical and boost investor confidence in the sector. Addressing the 58th Annual General Meeting of Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association (ICMA), UTI chairman PS Subramanyam, while reiterating the importance of chemical industry in the economic development, said that under the present global scenario, the industry's five per cent growth rate for 1997-98 should be seen as a commendable achievement.
