Mumbai, Oct 16: The $9-billion global advisory firm KPMG International on Friday announced the setting up a focussed information technology (IT) centre in the country as a common resource pool for its global network.
Inaugurating the centre, company chairman Colin Sharman said: "In India there already exists an abundance of talented and highly qualified professional manpower. And that is what we feel is going to power the country's global competitiveness."
The centre is the first of its kind in the company's global network and will augment the firm's global IT service delivery capabilities, he added.
While a significant part of its services will be used within the KPMG network around the world, the centre will also service the management consultant's clients in the country.
KPMG India managing director (consulting) J Rajagopal said: "The IT centre is a part of our new strategy for management consulting services. We are aiming for aggressive growth in the Indian market and see IT as a key engine forthat growth."
"The centre is part of our new global strategy to triple turnover over the next four years and we see it as a key engine to aggressive growth," he added. There is a huge potential in ERP solutions that is just waiting to be tapped, he said adding that the centre would also strengthen KPMG's presence in the domestic ERP market.
Over the years, KPMG has developed expertise in solutions for financial services industry, manufacturing and retail or distribution companies.
The centre will focus on customising ERP solutions such as SAP, PeopleSoft and Oracle, and also provide solutions for systems integration in association with Microsoft as well as electronic commerce and other net-enabled solutions, Rajagopal said.
KPMG plans to grow the manpower resources of the facility to over 1,000 experts over the next four years. In India since 1993, the firm provides a full range of professional services, encompassing management consultancy, business advisory, corporate finance, tax and ISOcertification services.
