Yesterday it was the royalty. Today it is the corporates. Patrons continue to play an important role in popularising arts and culture. For some, particularly the hospitality industry, promotion of arts is the logical, aesthetic extension of their services.
A chance for the disabled
Consider this. One child in every 10 in India is either born with a handicap or is handicapped early in life. In order to help the handicapped in their own little way, some Mumbai-based corporates are supporting one of the leaders in this field, the Society for the Education of the Crippled (SEC).
Toxic toys
In the soft, warm light of a baby store, a young couple coos over the soft cuddly toys and picks out a scrub buddy and a squeaky bear for their toddler--little realising that they are buying a toxic product.
