Carrier beats industry average
The first-half results have shown what the short-term trend in earnings for Carrier Aircon is likely to be. There has been a strong growth in volumes for all categories of air-conditioners produced by Carrier in this period, but at the same time, revenues growth has fallen behind.
Developing an acceptable way to downsize
Freeze recruitment in overstaffed areas, eliminate positions no longer required, and redeploy workmen. These, in turn, lead to ineffective utilisation of manpower, and drive a wedge into cost-cutting plans.
Regulate pipelines
There has been a fair amount of controversy about the policy regarding the transportation of petroleum products through pipelines. When it was reported that private-sector players like Reliance Industries wanted to set up pipelines, questions were raised about the duplication in the network, as well as the future of Petronet.
