Political uncertainty, rumours of Indica delay drag Sensex down
Political uncertainty and rumours over postponement of the Tata's car project took its toll on the markets on Thursday as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) witnessed franctic selling by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), domestic institutions and operators.
Welspun India plans Rs 75-crore rights issue
Welspun India plans to raise Rs 75-crore through issue of optionally fully convertible debentures (OFCDs) with a face value of Rs 100 each to its shareholders some time in January, 1999. The company board, which met on November 24, has already approved the rights issue.
Sterlite scrip on a decline after court orders copper-smelter plant closure
There seem to be no end of bad news for Sterlite Limited. Recently it lost the bid for Indal to Alcan and now the Madras High Court has ordered closure of its copper smelter plant. The scrip today fell to low of Rs 117.9.
