Swaraj may get I&B portfolio back
Former Delhi chief minister Sushma Swaraj may get back the information and broadcasting portfolio once the winter session of parliament is over. Government sources confirmed the possibility of Swaraj's return to the I&B ministry, saying that it may be part of the next cabinet reshuffle.
Expressways set to cost Rs 1,25,000 crore
The union government has sought private participation for the development of 13,500 km of expressways, which will require Rs 1,25,000 crore. Minister of surface transport M Thambi Durai said that the government has identified the stretch of route for expressways which will link major ports and industrial centres and will be offered on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) scheme.
Telecom panel to usher in revenue-sharing
The new telecom policy is set to replace the existing licence fee regime in the basic and cellular telecom sectors with revenue sharing system, a bonanza for the cash-strapped private operators. The proposal envisages payment of 10-15% of the total revenue earned by the service providers to the government under the new system.
