Sybase Inc to consolidate domestic operation: Sybase Inc has decided to consolidate its Indian operations as part of its strategic decision to restructure Asian operations. The India headquarters at present in Bangalore is being moved to Mumbai. Company managing director Ramana Gogula has also decided to quit the company and will launch his own outfit that will combine music, multimedia and information technology, a release said.HMT International bags award: HMT International Ltd, a wholly-owned outfit of HMT Ltd, has bagged the Engineering Export Promotion Council's award in the category of `regional top exporters shield - project exports' for the year 1996-97. This is the 38th award bagged by HMT International from apex export organisations. The company has exported over 15,000 machines to more than 70 countries.
Cranes Software, Vertel Inc tie up: The Bangalaore-based Cranes Software International Pvt Ltd has tied up with Vertel Inc of the US to market the later's products in thecountry. The products are targeted at equipment manufacturers, Internet service providers and independent software vendors. Cranes is also introducing the concept of telecommunication management network (TMN) in India.
Jacobs Engineering hikes ownership in local arm: The US-based Jacobs Engineering Group Inc has increased ownership in its domestic subsidiary to 70 per cent. In 1993, Jacobs had acquired 40 per cent if Humphreys & Glasgow Consultants Pvt Ltd. With Jacobs' ownership at 70 per cent, the subsidiary now conducts business as Jacobs H&G Ltd. Announcing this grroup vice-president John McLachlan said, "We can now offer a wider depth and breadth of services, offering local knowledge and experience combined with the broad capabilities of Jacobs Engineering group."
International Chamber of Commerce election: JK Synthetics managing director and former Assocham president Govind Hari Singhania has been elected as president of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), India for the year1998-99. Singhania, who is also director of JK Organisation, JK Cotton Spinning & Weaving Mills Co Ltd, JK Corp Ltd and JK Leasing, was also president of the Association of Synthetic Fibre Industry. Rungta Enterprises chairman and former Ficci president AK Rungta has been elected as the vice-president of ICC, India for 1998-99.
