Ahmedabad, Dec 18: Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd's (IPCL) polyethylene facility at Nagothane has achieved the target of expanding its linear low (lldPE) and high density (hdPE) polyethylene plant capacity by 40 per cent from 1.60 lakhs tpa. This has been done by incorporating the BP Chemicals Innovene technology in a record 17 months.While the expansion plan was announced two years ago, the work was completed by Samsung Engineering Company of South Korea ahead of schedule, after Technip of France had carried out front-end engineering design, a release said.
IPCL chairman and managing director KG Ramanathan said he hoped embark on further low-cost expansion of the existing reactors in line with fast the growing market.
BP Chemicals chief executive Bryan Sanderson gave the credit to the original design of IPCL's plant operation, a testament to the pace of development and the flexibility of Innovane technology.
