Coca-Cola plans new plant in Tajikistan: Coca-Cola Co. plans to start building a soft drinks plant next year in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe costing $15-20 million, the company's regional director Akhmad Burak said on Thursday. "Today we reached an agreement on the construction of a softdrinks factory with a capacity to produce 48 million litres annually, starting at the beginning of next year," he told reporters after meeting Tajik President Imomali Rakhmonov. He said that some details of the deal had yet to be agreed between the two sides, including how much money the Tajik government planned to invest. Drinks production could start as early as September next year, Burak added.Vickers gets 80% of ST Capital: Stockbrokers Vickers Ballas Holdings said it had received 80.26 per cent, or 563.58 million shares in ST Capital at the close of its unconditional voluntary take-over offer on Wednesday. This included acceptances in respect of 525.06 million ST capital shares received from SingaporeTechnologies Pte Ltd. Vickers said in a statement the offer would not be extended. An analyst with a Singapore brokerage said with about 20 per cent of ST Capital still out in public hands, the company would continue to be listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore.
Bingham Financial revises Q4 results: Bingham Financial Services Corp. said it was restating its fiscal fourth-quarter financial results on the advice of its independent auditors, and would now show a loss instead of a profit. Bingham Financial said it reported its results for the fourth quarter ended September 30 last month, at which time it disclosed an unrealized loss of $4.3 million related to a hedge position, partially offset by estimated unrealized gains of $1.7 million.
Kmart recalls danger angels: Retailer Kmart Corp. had agreed to recall 132,000 electric Christmas tree angels because of a fire hazard, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The angel ornaments are about 10 inches high, have gowns that are white,gold, and silver, or a combination of these colors, and have lights attached to each wrist and at the base. The agency said it was aware of two incidents where plastic on the ornaments melted from the heat of the bulbs. Consumers were advised to immediately stop using the angel ornaments and return them to Kmart for a refund.
Bayerische to buy 15% of BPH in tranches: Germany's Bayerische HypoVereinsbank will buy 15 per cent of Polish Bank Przemyslowo-Handlowy SA (BPH) from the EBRD in two tranches, according to media reports on Thursday. The reports quoted Poland's representative to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Jan Bielecki, as saying the first tranche of the deal would be done this year. BHV is buying the EBRD stake to give it a majority holding in the Polish retail and corporate bank. The Polish state treasury sold a 37-per cent stake in BPH to the German bank in October for 2.1 billion zlotys ($600 million), as part of a privatisation programme. Gazeta reportedBielecki as saying the price of the EBRD stake was higher than BPH's present valuation of 200 zlotys per share, but gave no other details. "The stake will be divided into two tranches, the first of which the Germans will take by the end of this year," Bielecki said.
