Khurana on the backfoot, blames opposition for patents bill
The controversy over the patents bill took a new turn on Friday with parliamentary affairs minister Madan Lal Khurana expressing regret over "unintentionally" bringing in the president's name in the matter.

Move on cards to allow processing sector to import capital goods
The textiles ministry has mooted a proposal to permit the processing sector to import capital goods -- both new as well as old -- of a cost, insurance and freight (CIF) value ranging from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore under the Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme.

State power board losses take the sheen off reforms
The fast pace of reforms in the power sector to attract investment worth Rs 250,000 crore needed till 2002 may come to nought if states do not shun populism and revive their electricity boards that lose Rs 10,000 crore annually.
