Sinha pins hopes on farm sector to propel growth
Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said on Saturday he was banking on a strong performance by the agriculture sector to fuel economic growth in the the current financial year.
Centre, ADB plan insurance-linked mortgage fund
The Asian Development Bank, in association with the government, is in the process of creating an insurance-linked mortgage fund. The maiden Rs 100-crore fund will aim at providing comfort to housing finance companies in the country.
Sen stresses on market, state symbiotic role
Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has said that he supports the policies of Jawaharlal Nehru, but opposes what was practiced during his tenure. He also said that a balanced mixture of market and state intervention is a must for economic and social development of any country in the world, including India.
