Nabard projects Rs 4,342 cr credit plan for Gujarat
Nabard has projected Gujarat's potential linked credit plan (PLP) for 1999-2000 at Rs 4,342 crore, including Rs 1,962 crore for agricultural production, about Rs 1,000 crore for non-farming and other rural programmes, and Rs 500 crore for the service sector.

DoT grants licences to 41 ISP firms
Basic telephony major MTNL, Indusind Cable Television, Zee Telefilms, Bharti Communications, Ortel Communications, Suchibh Communications and 35 others have received internet service provider (ISP) licences from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

Institutional sanctions up 48%, disbursements rise 28%
The combined sanctions and disbursements by IDBI, ICICI, IFCI, UTI and LIC in 1997-98 aggregated Rs 79,947 crore and Rs 51,855 crore showing an increase of 48.7% and 28.5% respectively over the previous year.
