Mumbai, Jan 2: The Rs 100-crore Emco Transformers, one of the largest transformer manufacturers in India, has changed its name to Emco. In addition to transformers the company will now focus on the power transmission and distribution sector. It has targeted a turnover of Rs 400 crore to be achieved in next three years. Shailesh Jain, joint managing director, Emco, told The Financial Express that the company will continue to produce a wide range of quality transformers and tamper proof electronic energy meters. It will also offer supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solutions for sub-station automation and rural load management.SCADA solutions help demand side load management and increase efficiency of the transmission and distribution network.
The meter division has recently introduced value added metering solutions such as automatic meter reading and pre-payment metering in India. The contract division offers indoor cellular sub-stations which are a cost effective alternative to the expensivegas insulated sub-stations used in urban areas.
The company has already entered into strategic alliances with GE Harris, Enron, Conlog, Ansaldo and ABB.
