Centre slashes diesel rates by 10 per cent
The government on Friday announced a 10 per cent reduction in diesel prices throughout the country. Diesel will now cost Rs 8.89 in Delhi, Rs 9.11 in Calcutta, Rs 10.04 in Mumbai and Rs 9.79 in Chennai.
Banks' overseas branches permitted to deploy FCNR funds in Indian paper
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has clarified that overseas branches of Indian banks are free to borrow FCNR(B) funds and invest it in Indian papers abroad. Domestic banks, however, cannot use their FCNR(B) funds for picking up overseas Indian papers directly.
Bank unions stick to Jan 12 strike plan as wage talks fail
The banking industry is set to be thrown into the throes of an industrial relations crisis as talks between the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) and the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) broke down on Friday. Bank unions are going ahead with the proposed industry-wide strike on January 12 as IBA stuck to its offer of an 8% wage hike.
